Alazani_Valley_(3)

In the picturesque surroundings of the pristine Alazani Valley lay Gevelli Vineyards, 60 hectares of beautiful and ideal vine-cultivating terrain. The very unique and exotic terroir of this valley gives life to some of the most amazing Vitis Vinfera that has ever been grown by man. It is a magical place that is considered to be the birthplace of viticulture itself.  The oldest archeological evidence of wine-making in the region dates back to 6000 BC.

Our Vineyards are located in the renowned Tsinandali micro-zone appellation, on land which is referred to as “Lionidzis Zvari” (Lionidzis’ land in translation). The name comes from its historical XVIII-th century owner – Solomon Lionidze (1754 -1811), a great diplomat and Chancellor of King Erekle’s II court. The grapes born and matured on these grounds are the most particular throughout the whole Tsinandali micro-zone as they are especially regarded for their outstanding quality and the harmonious bouquet they develop.

The Gevelli Wine and Vineyards winery is fitted with the most modern, highest quality, winemaking and ageing equipment. When we combine this with endemic appellation-controlled vines, generations of wine making traditions and our winemakers Archil Pharsadanishvili`s passion for wine – we thrive to set new standards of Georgian wine on the global market.
